Malta is cheap although without dates if difficult to price, but here's an example.

https://www.google.co.uk/flights/#search;f=MAN;t=MLA;d=2016-06-03;r=2016-06-10

If you enter your dates and number of peeps, then click on the map view "Explore Destinations" you can get an overview of flights prices, for example Faro is from 104 pp with RyanAir.

Mainland Spain has many delightful little out of the way places where you can get 4 berth apartments for around the £3-400 mark.

My first port of call would be Skyscanner to find cheap local flights to you to see if it is viable, then the accommodation site "home away" is a favourite of ours for such things.

We are away in June with a penthouse apartment in a new fully equipped (gym/pool/etc) in a small moorish town 2 hours from Alicante for around £1000 for 10 days for car/apartment/flights all-in.

Be quick, most places are booking up fast and prices are going up, one of our phone girls also works for a travel agents.

No one wants to go to Turkey or any of the other similar destinations any more, hence prices for other places are going up due to demand.

Yeah we fly into faro Monarch, hire a car using economy car hire its an easy peasy walk across the car park to pick the car up and drive to the resort.

We have stayed in Lagos and it was fab, plenty to do, Zoomarine in the Algarve is fantastic and you get a second day for buttons. Beaches are great a local zoo to see and aqua parks as well and its not a hotel fested resort either. +++

Been going Cross-eyed looking at flights.

I did find a decent one to Antalya but kids vetoed it as they didn't feel safe. Thinking about it with a passport with only stamps to Pak, Saudi and UAE I might struggle on return from Turkey!

Anyway CarMad - did you stay in a villa or hotel in Lagos?

I think Algarve it is....

We have stayed in a Villa and Apartment, most of the hotels don't have the rooms for the kids not to share which we didn't want.

Have a look on Home and Away / Owners Direct for apartments and Villas we have gone that way this time.

Another thumbs up for Lagos (Algarve in general) here.+++

Just beware the beaches are The Atlantic and are a bit 'livelier' and colder than the med.

We are going later this year with a view at potentially buying a place in Lagos.

We have just come back from Cascais (Lisbon coast) again......but property is pricy there and it's not as warm in winter.

You can live and eat cheaply in Portugal too.
