I'm looking to change my current car(S3) to a diesal due to a change in job. Would like to know what sort of Mpg your getting from the 1.9 Engine.

Anyone know if there is much variant with a Quattro version as its carrying extra weight ??

My bro has a 1.9 TDi Quattro. He reckons it shaves about 3-4 mpg off a non Quattro, but when you're getting 40mpg + it's a very small sacrifice for the benefits of 4wd. In fact I've tried following him in my 1.8T Cab and can't keep up in some of the bends. Maybe it's cos I'm a crapper driver than him though.

2001 PD 130 5sp 4dr, and I get between 43 and 51. Recently one of my brakes has been sticking though, so it has dropped a little, still never under 43. Plus that is genuine average, as I don't have a posh computer, so have to work it out the hard way when I fill up!

Steady driving can suggest a total range of 800 miles, but the best I have seen is just under 700. Still seems to be at least 5-8 litres in the tank when the range is 0.

tdi 130, urban was 40-44, mway 70-80mph was 58, mway 80+ (overtaking officer) was 51-55. Range was 550-680 depending

on speed/acceleration.

If you have any choice, spec either the Sport model, or SE model with Sports seats. The SE seats are not bad, but if you r going 2 be a road warrior, you'll apreciate the adjustment and support of the Sports.

Also suggest you spec the centre armrest and the storage-pack option.

Mine is a 1.9 quattro avant but only average 35.9mpg and a don't sit in traffic and I don't always boot it everywhere. To give you an idea of what other cars I've used for the same run.

Boxster S = 27mpg average

R32 = 28mpg average

330ci = 29mpg average

Cooper S = 32mpg average

All these were on the same run everyday to work so why is my A4 not as good as others on economy. Its been remapped to 190bhp but they say that fuel consumption should be better when driving sensibly. If I do boot it to work (15 mile A roads) I can get as little as 32mpg shocked.gif

I think I'm going to go back to petrol for my daily runner confused.gif

Frankly, 18ME, 35.9mpg is utter cr@p for a 1.9Tdi. Especially if you can get 28mpg in an R32 for the same journey - you should be getting at least 45mpg, I would think.

You've either got a 2.5TDi hidden under the bonnet, a fuel leak somewhere, or your engine is being overfuelled.

Have the dealers had anything to say about why it is so poor ?

This is what I thought, around 42mpg at least anyhow. I've got a slight problem with it losing power at speed so its been into the dealer's 3 times, AmD once but nothing has showed up on the dealer's diagnostics but AmD did reckon it was the MAF or MAP or whatever you call it, so I've got it booked in at another dealer where my brother works...hopefully he'll find out whats wrong.

Definately not a V6 under the bonnet as it sounds like a four cylinder weedy thing. yelrotflmao.gif

I have now covered 60K in my 2002 PD130 A4 Avant Sport.

Most of the miles have been on the motorway at reasonably agressive speeds.

Over a tank I will generally get anywhere between 43-48mpg which is generally around 600ish miles to a fill up.

If driving in a reserved manner , circ 50-60mph the economy easily goes up between 50-55mpg

I have done 9000 miles in mine, which is 130bhp Quattro with sports pack, and a few kilos of options added.

I tend to get between 31mpg with a maximum of 37mpg.

As a guide the quattro has a 66litre fuel tank, compared to the 2WD which has a 70litre tank.

The maximum I have had the DIS show is 540mile range (37mpg), and the worst I have had it show is 380 miles (26mpg).

I thrash the fecker everywhere (co. car), and normall get about 34mpg, but I do a lot of stop-start driving! ECLIPSe.gif

Went to Motorshow yesterday, and my car (1.9TDi 130 4dr) returned an amazing 56.49999 MPG! Based upon a steady 80 on the Motorway, and a few foray's off piste. I am very impressed!

Did I mention it will also do 140mph flat out (on autobahn)?

Last tank, I had to get a friend to the airport after their car broke down, so did about 25 miles flat out, then took it steady through rest of tank, but again with some none motorway driving, bit of town driving (from M25 Jw/A3 up to North circular, then back onto M1), did 660 miles on tank and still got 51.5.

Mine is just a bog standard car though, running 195/65R15's, so I would expect it to have less drag, and it isn't particuarly firm or communicative on the twisties, but it still good fun. Went from Mansfield up to Clowne in Notts yesterday, along a clear B road, and it was really good fun. Admittedly driving briskly rather than hard, but fun nonetheless. A colleague has a 1.8Tq (163), and it is a lot noisier than mine.
