My dealer invited me to test drive one of these before I bought my RS6...

Phew.. what a car... just stunning laugh.gif.. The way that engine revs is just unbelivable... you look at the rev counter and think.. [censored].. I'm only half way round grin.gif

The reason why I went for the Audi.. a two year waiting list frown.gif.. and no estate.. my kids wouldn't be happy in the back of the coupe.. but when I see them on the road.. respect cool.gif

its 343bhp and has anyone got under 5? tongue.gif

have been a few detail changes - elctric seat options for one

interesting to see the difference in where you take a test drive

I was actually disappointed in the performance when driving around London - my chipped S3 was quicker in real life coz it is all about revs

In Cornwall or somewhere similar would be a different matter

overall great car, sounds gorgeous - my car is embarrassing in comparison

would love one - just wished Audi made it wink.gif

hehehehe ive got one smirk.gif

The 2002 model had spec changes from the original, i can list them if you really want. It was mostly the optional & standard kit changes.

Not being biased here but the capabilities of the car are amazing, a few from here are impressed. The car seems to feel quicker when you are a passenger for some reason and im not sure why. I havent had a chance to compare it yet, mostly because people dont try or my girlfriend is in the car with me, a new scoob type UK wanted to play on the M3 (motorway) yesterday but i had passengers who might not have appreciated the M at full chat in the wet

Thorney, it must have been the lack of roof that made it feel un trackable.

Nick, i had the option of a cancelled order to my spec which was due for delivery in a month or quite a few used examples. I have an 18month old car which had 14K on the clock for £6K less than list. And oh yes another finance deal of joy wink.gif

Interesting point about revs.. hadn't thought about that..

down here you can just gun it all the time.. probably why I was so impressed.. only BMW make an engine like that.. you can't disagree.. it's a masterpiece...

Would I prefer the M3 to the RS6?.. probably not.. but they are both great cars.. and if I had the funds I would have one of each grin.gif

My M3 comes in Jan (cant wait). It's a fine car. If I had the option I'd have an m3 as my dry day car and the RS6 as my wet day car cool.gif

The best 0-60 I've seen for the M3 is 4.6 seconds. The best 1/4 mile I've seen is 12.7/12.8. I think this is probably a touch slower than an RS4, but, still quick!

The waiting time for an M3 is down to about 4-6 months now. Also, 2nd hand prices are getting better (if you're buying).

  • 3 months later...

I test drove one today and it was incredible. It feels alot smaller, lighter and nimbler than it looks. I was also impressed by the sound, that metalic twang sounded great but scary!

It was not as fast as i expected but the way it performed was exceptional, it reved like a bitch! I drove the SMG gearbox option, and i bet the manual is alot better.

After i drove the B30 and that was not a touch on the M3. It was slower, easier and boring in comparison. The M3 was the best drivers car ever and if i had the money i would buy one over anything elce i have ever driven!!!! beerchug.gif
