Induction Kit...Opinions?

I'm sure Sven will interject at some point (probably about 2am knowing him !!!) I saw the same kit on ebay but the overall consensus was, stick to the standard airbox with a K&N in. The A8's air intake is very well ducted from the grille, the induction kit is more likely to suck in warm air from the engine bay and in turn resulting in a drop in BHP, let's face it is 3-4 hp really going to be noticed from 300-360bhp of 4.2 !!!!!!

Hmm, I'm kinda reluctant to stick a 'non brand' in there...

I have sent BMC an e-mail a while back (but they're on holydays), to see if they can do a CDA system for the S8/A8. They have various induction kits for the 8, so if you want that I'd look there, or K&N.

That said, this kit does look handsome! But where are you going for your replacement filters? (yeah I know they're supposed to last, but still).

Anyway, the trick would be to make a heat shield (a proper one). Thus creating a cooler 'boxed' area under the bonnet.

You WILL need the scoop, as that's the only thing passing the radiator. So the idea would be to widen the intake pipe behind the scoop as much as possible (maybe adding another one from the lower grille?) to feed that 'box' with fresh air.

You will get a very impressive induction note (I tried), and the bigger 'box' will (hopefully) provide more air, and will probably also enhance the induction sound.

I'm contemplating to create something like that, or get a massive BMC CDA box (if they make one). Other option is to make something similar...

One way or the other, I think the 8 will benefit from more air. But it needs to be cool. Just sticking an induction kit under the bonnet will not do I'm afraid.
