Frodo
I've just been reading Audi driver and it states you should use 98 RON only for the S-Line. Well I will be spending a lot of time in Eastbourne and Shell Optimax is rarer than a Dodo. I can use BP Ultimate which is 97 RON. Should I use a suplliment like Octane boost or is this just a waste of money?
gizze
I beleive that the reason is the car knows what fuel is in it, and you will only get the full power if using the correct fuel. You can use 95 Ron but it won't give you the same output.

bearra
Yes - I would laugh Not sure you would I have to drive 10 miles to get BP Ultimate Diesel as the 9 BP garages near me only sell Ultimate Petrol. So you petrol drinkers don't have it near as bad. But worth the trip don't you think
Frodo
I haven't even got a clue where my nearest Shell is in Eastbourne, would probably be over 15 miles. That is a 30 mile round trip just to fill up.

GCab
[ QUOTE ] BP Ultimate Diesel forever [/ QUOTE ] Yep, when I had the TDI I swore by BP Ultimate, it ran a lot quieter, smoother, and possibly a litle faster. I've tended to go for BP Ultimate petrol now, as a hangover from those days: but it probably makes much less difference to the 1.8T.
scooby_simon
This bit of the /multimap web site is a god send to those of us who only let our cars drink Optimax..... Might just have a few programmed in my GPS If I am running V short, it will then bung a little in.
Frodo
But want about if the nearest Optimax is miles away and I have to use Ultimate all the time, should I use an Octane Boost additive or are they a waste of time?
