Anyone had the T-shirt and moved off onto something else eg RS4? Can't decide whether to mod the S4 at AMD or trade up with some debt and get RS4. Only thing is I prefer saloon. New S4 looks like sh*te in my eyes...Help! (RS6 is a pipedream as I'm a poor North-Easterner hee hee - got 6 houses though at 34 which is doing alreet like -them benefits people gotta liv sumwhere th'knaws!!! )

RobK
I'd recommend getting an RS4 rather than souping up an S4. It would cost you about the same if you were to do the S4 turbo upgrade, and you'd never get the money back when you sold it. Plus, a 400bhp S4 doesn't feel as quick as a standard RS4. The downside is you'd still want to sort out the suspension on the RS4, but other than that it won't need anything much doing to it. And RS4 resale values are still pretty strong. Tweaky
Has anyone here ever experienced a standard RS4 racing against a basicly modded S4? I wonder what the 1/4 mile times would be?
RobK
I raced my standard RS4 against George Wong's 400bhp S4 at GTi International on the quarter mile strip. I beat him by half a second - I got 14.0s and he got 14.5s. You can't read too much into that though because it's down to the driver and what sort of start you get etc. I later did a 13s quarter at Santa Pod so it makes quite a difference. I think the best time the AudiWorld S4 guys have done in a Stage II setup (chip and exhaust) is a 12.8s, using 110 octane racing fuel.
Veracocha
The RS4 is probably just about capable of cracking 13 seconds for the 1/4 I would have thought.
Mac
I can average 12.6 - 12.8 depending on whether measured with GPS or my Racetech. Thats pretty good I reckon
RS4_Barry
Thats about right mac the best I ever did in the RS4 was a 12.3 but that was being DAMN heavy on the car and on the second run (remember that video of me against the white skyline) my gearbox blew up
Mac
Cripes Did you have the uprated clutch too? I mean now I can just bang off the line no probs, std clutch would slip like a slippy thing.
RS4_Barry
Some of you may remember this from last year but this had the chance of being my best ever 1/4 look at that launch (that is a 580bhp skyline btw) pity the car jumped out of gear with an almighty bang half way up and that was it gearbox over.... still audi did replace it under warranty! Veracocha
You had over a car length on that skyline just from the start! It's difficult to see what happened further up. Did the skyline overtake you?
Insurance Jon
Just seen the vid. I'm the proud owner of Barry's old car, I never took much notice of the old line "one carefull owner........................and one completly reckless one" lol. Then again he was just driving it how it was meant to be driven. I now has the uprated clutch and flywheel and launches well!
