My first car was a white 3dr Polo 1.3 GL with denim blue interior. I loved that car, and I didn' have any accidents in her either. She was mint when I got her & pretty much stayed that way until she steped aside for the 106 XSi rollerskate 2 years later on.

K reg Ford Escort 1.4LX.

75 asthmatic Dagenham Donkies, metallic paint, ELECTRIC WINDOWS, a spoiler (!) a bass and treble controls on the stereo... blush.gif

No power steering, 500 turns lock-to-lock and 81k on the clock when I snapped it up. Some new bushes later and it ran well. It did get a new gearbox (£750) as well as £350 worth of fascia removal just to fix some issue with the heating so not quite as cost-effective as it could have been.

185 section tyres (14inch wheels IIRC) but I thought they were quite wide at the time.

I didn't write it off but I did put it into some poor chap's front garden iamwithstupid.gif Via his garden wall SAUER0421.GIF

1964 Mini 850cc bought in 1968 for my (then) fiancee by her dad. Red and had the roof painted black to make it look like a Cooper! Tyres were 165-10 (no profile stated 'cause they were standard -88% or was it 80?). Top speed was stated to be 72mph!

Found it had been in a fairly major front end smash. Engine was too low so fan belt can't be fitted without jacking up engine and lots of fibreglass in front wings. Gearbox lost 1st and 3rd halfway betwen London and Ludlow. My wife cried when we traded it in for a white F-reg. (1968?) Escort Mk1 1100cc (OHT 53F if anyone knows if it still survives. It was still 'alive' in 2001)
