spencec Posted November 6, 2004 Report Share Posted November 6, 2004 Just come from the dealer and he informed me that the new S3 out in June/July will be a 2.0 Turbo engine with BHP figures more or less the same as the current 225. I must say I was dissapointed as I have been hearing all these stories about a 280/300 bhp V6. Is my dealer right? I think it will have to be an S4 purchase instead. However, I personally think it will be 2.0T but with power around 250bhp. Dealer has mentioned week 22 commencement of production. We shall see... When he said that I did have to agree as the S4 sales would take a hit surely. If though it does come in V6 with 330bhp you will have my order. Fingers are crossed. It's a good indictaion to look at what VW are testing for the golf..(R36) Although they did say the new R32 will have the 3.2 from the A3! hmm -didn't Audi nick it from the R32 in the first place...?? god now i'm confused! [/ QUOTE ] I think Audi are a little more concerned about buyers defecting to BMW or mercedes than models within their own range. ...and considering that the starting price for the A4 is under 19k and my a3 cost me upwards of 27k, I think crossover is always going to be an issue... especailly as they don't do an A4 coupe. and for your information... This week's prediction is an S3 with around 330bhp from a 3.2T And the plans for an RS3 have been shelved (this week anyway) A new 4WD set up will be introduced as well to cope with the increased power.
