fatcat
How do the wheels become 'bendy', I know there was alot of discussion on the RS4 bendy wheels, but how is it caused and what does a bendy wheel look like, I'm thinking 'buckled'..... Dave
Yes, buckled would be a better term for it... It's due to two main factors I'm lead to believe.. the compound of which the wheel is made.. Alloy is softer than steel and also the sort of profile tyres being used. Some tyres can actually give strenght to the rims, but too thin a profile and this means the rims can suffer damage from road imperfections. I don't think that this will develop into anything big like the RS4, but we'll have to sit back and see Dave
peterb
[ QUOTE ] Reading the first reports of problems with the RS6 alloys?? [/ QUOTE ] Argh! Where have you heard that news? Presumably it relates only to the 19 inch wheels. I've ordered the 18 inch rims, so I hope that I'll be okay.
Dave
Here's one of the first reports: RS246 : Bent wheels Looks like Barry has two bent front wheels
Mac
You've got to bear in mind RS6 owners are more likely to check too? I mean how many other performance car drivers check to see if their wheels are buckled - even slightly? I'm not saying they have bent wheels too but I can't imagine Audi would be damm stupid enough to repeat the same problem that cost them so much. RS4_Barry
Actually I thought it was something daft like a sticky balance weight had come off the wheel - didn't know they were bent until they were put on the balancing machine and the wobbled about ..... not to worry got new ones anyway!
