Well I'm pleased to announce that I'm firmly back in this club.

I'm not convinced that my 80 has been doing the business, but I bought a PD130 Bora at the weekend and today I did 198 miles to Bolton and back at a steady 70-80 (kph, officer) and was very pleased to see this:

Now, where's UBM with my new membership card? 169144-ok.gif

I got 54mpg from the 320d auto over the last tank, very impressed with that.

Annoyingly it was showing 57 for the first 3/4 of a tank, but then picked up some BBS wheels from someone and left the engine running for over 10 minutes while talking and it dropped to 56 and on then with traffic and running a little late it dropped to 54. Having 5 extra wheels in the car probably didn't help either. :(

I did the following trip on wednesday and I got these figures from my SEAT Arosa TDi S.

Sheffield (M1S, M25E, M11S, A12E) to Romford, the 5 miles (W) back towards London on the A12... then back home the same route.

Filled up in Sheffield, about £37.00 approx

Got back to Sheffield wednesday night and the fuel light came on after I had been out for a pizza. Run it with the light on as it usually has 10 litres left.

Took the readings today before filling up.

395 miles using 29.25 litres of diesel, its a 35 litre tank, so still plenty left"

Err, knock knock, my S3 was a little sick the other day and popped into limp mode for a while. After a bit of very relaxed driving and a fill up, my trip comp was implying a range (almost 600 miles) equivalent to 48.1 mpg for a good 15 mins!!

This from a car that averages 22 or so.

Surely that is worth some kind of frugal driving award! :P

Phil_S - that's impressive!!

Mollox - must try harder.

yeah, it was one of those lucky days when nothing got in my way the roads were dry and nothing on the other side so i could cut all the corners :P but i usually average between 50 - 55 unless a little corsa or something wants to try me :P

For some reason, my mpg has shot up from 52 ave to 57!!!

The only thing I can think of, is that I put in 2 half tanks of V-Power. There is also the possibility of me driving a bit slower on the 60 mile trip home on 1 or 2 evenings, but that's about it.

It is all clear dual carriageway/motorway mind you, and I sit at about 70 - 80 mph, cutting corners and roundabouts as and when.
