NewNiceMrMe
If you need space, buy a house. If you want fun, buy the Boxster...! Lodders is right about residuals too. The Boxster will hold its price much much better.

Calm Chris
I've driven both and at non track day speeds, there's little in it. S4 owners seem to be rarer, and the ones you do see are switched on drivers. It's a Claudia and Kate thing, some like one, some like the other. Problem with M3's in current style is that every other aspiring middle ->senior corp mgr has one, so there are a lot in London. Most of these cars are 50 y.o + drivers, with stressful days and spend the whole journey time on bluetooth, reading the pink paper and checking the diaries on their PDA's. They are very poor drivers. So I dispute the claim to the BMW M3 being a drivers car! It maybe, but the majority down in town can't drive their M3 for toffee. Let alone start to explore rear wheel slides and drifts! Sort out the 2 seat / 4 seat thing.

Sparky
[ QUOTE ] M3 if you have to prove you're macho and only 'drive' in the dry [/ QUOTE ] Get a M3 if you want to be one of 5000 other M3 owners per square mile. Personally, the Boxter looks nice but way too many people round here put it in the same hair-dresser league as a TT. The BMW's are looking too dated IMHO. S4 as said before is an all rounder. Will be an S4 cab for me next time.

NewNiceMrMe
[ QUOTE ] Will be an S4 cab for me next time. [/ QUOTE ] And the new M3/3-series cab will be out, so then the S4 will be the dated looking one - it is always going to be a case of overlap on these models. I have to say though, the stero-typical viewpointing of Audi drivers towards BMW's on here is so blatant it is untrue. At least your M3 driver such as I can acknowledge the Audi's quality for what it is meant for - what do you do, bash, bash, bash! It is becoming tiring and repetitive! CarMad
A friend at work had a new boxter on order. When she .. yes She went to the dealer with her current Boxster she saw a gorgeous black 911 and fell in love with it. She wasn't happy with the fact that the new car looked almost exactly the same as the old. So she upgraded and hasn't looked back since. Its a fantastic car, she has got the GT pack on it with the sports exhaust. A propper Porsche.
NewNiceMrMe
Well I am very happy to admit that if I didn't need a true 4 seater on the odd occasion that I wouldn't have an M3 Convertible in the garage. No way. It'd be a 911 Carrera 4 Cab. In fact, the likelihood of the new M3 staying with me for more than a few weeks are slim as things stand right now. The new 911 will have started to dip into the 2nd hand market and the use of the wifes car is increasing by the day, so with any luck I can have the car I really want by then. I love my car. But, given a choice and the removal of the need for those 4 seats, the 911 would be signed for in a jiffy. Quite simply it is the consumate performance car. No debate. NewNiceMrMe
Not everyone, I agree. But show the slightest bit of "its not perfect" to an A4/S4 and you get the usual suspects throwing their hairdresser and common jibes in as with every other day! Calm Chris
Don't be silly, put you dummy back in! Choice and opinion, freedom of speech. Hows about this, I would take either the new model M3 or the new model S4 due next year over my R32. Do you not agree about drivers being more important that the car? I've met some very poor drivers in all sorts of major league performance cars. All I said and I will not take it back, is that the London to City / Docklands commuter runs is living proof of the vast number of M3's and bares out the fact that owning a great car, does not qualify you as a great driver. Just for once, try being objective- Your lack of it, is becomming equally tedious.

[/ QUOTE ] Oeer, well excuse me sir! My lack of objectivity? Ahem, you haven't read this properly have you? You are, just to remind you, the one who said that M3's can't be called a drivers car because of the people that drive them? How objective is that! If I threw my dummy out, you picked it up and sucked on it good and hard before throwing it out of the pram completely! Perhaps you would like to quantify my lack of objectivity like I just have yours? I didn't get personal to a post see - so am merely responding to a very strange post from you! Calm down as they say! The common consensus of late has been very much the opposite and as you only seem to join in my posts to have a go I'd be interested to hear from you! But remember, chill pill first...
