Calm Chris
Bitch For the sake of PC I'm having a go at the above post only! It says nothing, that's an alternative motor. Not an R32, but it does have the same engine and it's a close 2nd call!
StephV6
NNOOOO I dont wanna start a thread "mine is better than yours" Just wanted to broaden the choices. I mean 22k buys lots of good cars some quicker than ours, some better built (not sure?), some more reliable etc... so no need to start that kind of thread even so you know you would lose anyway... only kidding

helfinger
AmD stage 2 is nothing to worry about its a upgrade most r32 owners go for anyway after time. i had the AmD stage 2 on my car at 10K stage 4 at 17K up to 29K where i have now gone down the SC route. Had no problems at all. A stage 2 is only a ECU remap and an milltec exhaust. I would concentrate more on the overall condition of the car rather than worrying about the AmD stage 2 upgrade. Good Luck you will love it...
Rocket_Man
[ QUOTE ] been to a VW dealer today and agreed to buy a 53 plate silver R32 with AMD stage 2 on it. the comes with the remaining warranty and i asked the question "what happens if the engine goes bang and VW try to blame it on the remap and exhaust?" the replied with that they work hand in hand with AMD, AMD covers the warranty on the ECU software and the miltek exhaust while VW covers the rest of the car. they said that if a drive shaft popped or summit that they wouldnt check the ECU it would just get fixed under the warranty. should i worry or am i just being over cautious??? [/ QUOTE ] As people have said, be cautious. Speak to the service manager where you plan on getting the car serviced about warranty on the car. I recently took my car to one dealer to have my misfire and noisy rear axle looked at, they said "we will void you warranty on the engine and drive train because you have messed with the induction system". All this because I had a CIA installed (they didn't notice the Milltek). Following that phone call I collected my car and went 15 minutes down the road to another dealer. Spoke to someone there who didn't care unless it was supercharged! So I've now got a new dealer who is doing my warranty work. Needles to say they just gained my servicing money. Oh and neither of the two garages was where I purchased the car, so don't think if you buy your stuck with the same dealer!
BrakeSnake
I'd go with the advice the others have given here. VW dealers will say anything to try to sell the car. At the end of the day, if the work has been completed by AMD, you shouldn't have any problems with the car. Your main concern is that you should ring AMD and check the reg and see if indeed the car has been through their workshop. If it is within the last 12 months, they will have a warranty on their parts. Check to see that the exhaust VW say you are getting on it is indeed an aftermarket one. VW and Audi have been known to say their cars have been fitted with a Miltek or such like, which has been confirmed with the tuners, when in fact someone in the dealer workshop has removed it for themself and fitted the a standard exhaust back on it. As for finding a dealer that will carry out warranty work, you only need tell them about the exhaust, which 90% of the time WONT affect the warranty terms and conditions (never had probs with either my S3 or Corrado in similar situations). The ECU remap is undetectable by the dealer on diagnostic set up.
Mabada
Has anyone been in the situation where they've made a claim on a modded car that was SOLD modded? Everyone seems to be cautious over this, but has it happened? There's a VW salesman in my family (no, he's OK!) and takes the view that if he sells a modded car, the warranty stands. "If we sell it it's down to us" is what he said when I quizzed him on a Mk5 GTi that he'd bought in. Just my tuppence worth!
Mook
Pomme bought his Red 5 door from a dealer who knew it had a Milltek fitted and he had to claim something (can't remember what) and, because it was knowingly sold with the mods, he made the claim no problem, but IIRC he had to make a few calls first... pomme
Yeah Mook is right. I bought the car with the AMD ST2, remap and milltek exhaust, from Listers in Coventry. As i live down south near St.Ives, i obviously dont take my car all the way back up to Coventry for any warranty issues, but just to the local dealers. As far any issues i have had with warranty items have not been a problem as they havent even checked to see the ECU. But i do have that lovely letter saying that that the car is bought and all items normally done under warranty will be covedered by them.
