Beast
No seriously, I took my R back for what sounds to be a similar problem. Gearbox out - new gearbox in. Warranty job.

1monty
As a potential future buyer of an R32, you have now got me worried about gearboxes! How many other owners have had this problem & what did the relevant dealer(s) say?
dazr32
the problem you have got here mate is that you have found this site. dont get me wrong the site is absolutely fantastic i personally cant fault it , BUT if someone has a problem with their R they post here and most of the time they find the information out that helps them work out their problem , if you are thinking of buying a car then it can be quite daunting reading peoples troubles but to be honest the cars are very reliable and most of these problems are quite trivial and are sorted under warranty. you pay your money and take your chance and lets face it its a hell of a car . schnurf
Hello, are you still alive? r32 Beat?? I need your help, Do you have any report sign up by you (for the complain and the desciption of the problem) and any report from your dealer regarding the switch( with the diagnostic)? VW in Switzerland say "it s normal..." I need help!!
Dr_Watson
VW Switzerland say its normal! Have you tried another garage? My experience with my R32 in Switzerland was that some garages (AMAG for example) were real experts when it came to talking about problems experienced etc, others said there was nothing wrong with the car. I have always got a 2nd or 3rd opinion on problems with Swiss garages. What age is the car, how many Km's on it. Changing form 2nd to 3rd to 4rth can be a little clunky but there should be no ggrrrrrr noise at all. Where is Switzerland are you?

FiftyPence
it must be in really bad shape if VW WOLFSBURG themselves have told you to get rid. I take it that you do own the car as in previous posts it sounded like you were interested in getting one but didnt actually own one

Mook
[ QUOTE ] geez thats a surprise. VW have the crappiest syncros I've ever shifted [/ QUOTE ] That's because you can't get used to stick-shifts in the US. You need to press the clutch when you want to change gear...
