Update - New wheel just ordered from VAG Parts, possible to get other one repaired, but would need to be done at proper wheel refurbishers frown.gif. Should arrive next Tuesday. I will probably get a quote to get the other repaired, and if resonable get it done & keep as a spare. Did find another problem with the wheel though, it's got Made in Poland stamped on the back, how did that happen? wink.gif

Just had wheel off to visually check suspension & steering arms etc. before it goes in, all looks OK nothing bent creased hanging off etc. see pics below:

I was passing a lorry on a dual carraigeway, doing about 60mph when it was hit by a gust of wind. I swerved to avoid it and clipped a kerb. The wheel as you can imagine was badly damaged all the way round due to the speed but I had it repaired by a company just north of Nottingham called 'Paint Chip Technologies' (I think). They did an amazing job, you wouldn't know it had ever been damaged and it only cost me £40.

The tyre was also wrecked but luckily Audi owed me a new tyre because the car had been delivered with a chunk missing from the side wall, probably damaged by an over enthusiastic transporter driver loading his lorry.

Interestingly, the guy that repaired the wheel said he had never known such soft alloys.......A word of warning to all those of you with the same wheels as me!

Good tip there mate, if only Audi provided a full size spare then I could have sent mine off. Is it a while u wait service or does it take longer? 40 quid is a bargain.

Know what he means about the alloy, they pick up scratches and marks far too easily, must be that weak polish alloy! grin.gif

Is this the place http://www.paintchiptechniques.com/ based in Mansfield.

That's them. Leeds Audi actually put me in touch with them initially.

They've repaired two of my wheels. The first was a small scuff and they repaired it while I waited. It only took 10minutes or so.

The major repair took them about two hours so I left the wheel with them. I live in Nottingham so it wasn't far to drive home (although posing in shop windows with a space saver fitted isn't quite the same!). Two hours later I drove back and the wheel was repaired and dry, ready to be refitted to the car. If you're planning on using them, give them a call before you drive over. They do a lot of work for Audi dealerships so can get very busy.

Just found a place near where I live called Top Marques that do the same sort of thing. If I'd known they could do it so quickly I wouldn't have ordered a new one smashfreakB.gifsuicide.gif.

Oh well I'll get the knackered one repaired and keep it as a spare, as one is bound to get curbed again no matter how careful you are.

Wheel should be here on Tuesday, had suspension and steering rack etc. checked on Friday and nothing is amiss cool.gif. Just got to have tracking checked/ajusted, which I will get done when I have the wheel changed. I then need to see how much the knacked one will cost to get repaired. Still best part of 300 notes to get this far frown.gif.
