UBM
What's the best way of taking them off?
Sparky
I'm sure this was covered sometime ago (when i joined TSN). Fairly liquid had a part to play in it if I remember rightly. I'll have a search for you.
marke
You could try just pulling the sticker off and then using from Dry Cleaning Fluid from Tesco to get the sticky mess off after that.
Milo
I peeled mine off then cleaned off the sticky gunk with white spirt or turps I think.
UBM
It pulled off easily and a bit of soapy water got rid of the tiny bit of residual sticky on the window...
Colin M
Warm the sticker with a hairdryer and it peels off easily. Use white spirit to remove traces of glue. Bill your dealer for the "repair job" in removing his unauthorised advertising.
UBM
It just pulled off (fnarr!) dead easy, the remaining marks came away with spit and soapy water! Now, just need to remove the stealer plate from the front.
firsttimeaudi
i made it a condition of my purchase that there were no dealer stickers and more importantly not dealer badges affixed to the rear of the car. i dont think many audi dealers, if any, affix badges yet but it is a growing trend and i cant believe so many people let them get away with it. when i bought my wife's car, i made this clear as the garage i bought her honda from do put badges with their logo on the rear of the car. i assume you'd damage the paintwork ripping it off. they had no problem obviously but made a comment along the lines of "but how can we give you the discount you want if we dont get the advertising". Sparky
I had the same. When the guy said about advertising I replied... "word of mouth. Good service leads to lots of compliments about you to friends and family". To which he replied "Can I get you a coffee or tea?" Hmmmm.
UBM
Hmmm - interesting comments guys. Only the front reg holder to go and it will be stealerless!
Durrsaku
i thought it was a requirement by law to have the dealers or garage's(you bought the car from) id on the number plate.
flex_won
The requirement is to have a mark identifying who made up the reg plates. I had mine done at Halfords and they are very discreet. Some small faint lettering. Can't be seen unless very close up.
Durrsaku
I see. Is this available as an option at halfords?
flex_won
Re: discreet markings on the plates. I thinks it's standard, I didn't ask for anything other than: Please make up plates with this VRN (supported by the registration document). UBM
There is still the postcode on the actual reg plate. The item I'm referring to is a reg plate mount with the stealers name on...
DanG
I got mine debadged from the factory and they kindly didnt add any from the dealer D. Had black 2004 A4 Quattro Avant Sport (with the body kit).....Sob..... Now in the US, waiting for the new 2.0T Quattro 'Sedan', arrives 1st week in April! Sparky
The only advertising is "Peter Guilder Audi" in small text on the plates. Doesn't worry me that it's there. I just don't like dealer stickers being slapped in the middle of the rear window blocking my view...
UBM
That's similar to my plates! It's far better minus the stealer sticker!
