What do you worry about?

Here's an interesting one.

Our 13 year old asked what we worry about tonight.

Hmm. Interesting question. So, what do you worry about?

In my case it's fairly straight-forward stuff and only two things that I think I actually 'worry' about:

- health

- children's safety blah blah

95% of worry is about the future.

Which begs the question, why worry about the past? confused.gif

Or is it consulting the past in order to worry about the future (i.e. making sure you don't make the same mistake, or make sure something you did in the past doesn't catch up with you in the future, etc.)

Better off worrying about the 'now', being as the future won't ever happen (cos when it does, it happens 'now').

In fact, better off not worrying at all!!

I'm not a natural worrier really. I reflect on the past like anyone else does but I dont let it concern me too much cos it's done and dusted and there's nothing that can be done to change it.

I dont 'worry' so much about the future, I do think about what could happen and where i may be, etc. in 5-10 years time but i firmly beleive that if you keep a positive head, you'll not go far wrong. Sure, I may lose everything, the house, the car, etc. but i'm not fussed about that as my only concern is having my family around me. If we can stick together, we can get through anything. So i suppose the only thing that I worry about it the health of my family. It's not worth worrying about money as there's always a solution to financial problems even if it means going bankrupt.

I worry a lot less now than when I was younger, and I am not old now.

Some things you just can't control so whats the point of worrying.

Current worry is looking for a new job. Want a change and a new challenge, not really worried about anything specific in relation to a move, I can sell myself. More what the new job is going to bring into my life, stress / joy / too much travel, who knows.

On the whole nothing evers stays the same for very long, so try not to let change worry me too much whenever possible. 169144-ok.gif

Thats the best way - I remember doing a stress management course and they taught me the most useful bit of information, i think it was called the circle of influence. Basically, you write down all of your concerns/worries and then decide what of those concerns you can influence and what you cannot influence. The idea is that you shouldn't waste any time worrying about the things that you cannot influence and just concentrate on the things that you can influence. It works really well.
