nikw
Now is not a good time to sell a car, especially one that has a bit of a drinking problem! A number of people I know are presently either trying to buy or sell secondhand cars. The sellers aren't getting any interest in their reasonably (i.e. not giving-it-away) priced cars, the buyers are spoilt for choice on the owners' forums never mind Autotrader. Not sure whether the answer is to get rid of the other half's mint MX-5 below book price and have the money in her pocket or wait a couple of months in the hope that the market will pick up (meanwhile the car depreciates, of course). steph51
I agree with NikW, let alone that the country is in a recession, its just not talked about, its holiday period so you got no chance........I've also decided to sell my A8 4.2QS with 83k after having the box rebuilt, at the mo I reckon I'd be lucky to get £6500 on an R reg !!! charlie61
[ QUOTE ] Hope to sell my A8 on ebay next week if all goes well... Ive seen loads of 8`s on there and they all seem to shift quite quickly.. Mark.. [/ QUOTE ] Sold mine last week through the autotrader, 4.2Q 95N reg for £4500 which was £100 more than I paid for it, spent a bit on 2 tyres and a service (non audi)so 9 months A8 motoring for £400 I honestly wasn't sorry to see it go especially as I picked up a 2000X A6 Avant 1.8T Quattro for £5250 through a mate in the trade. The A8 is a fantastic car but at this age with the cost of repairs and fuel being so high they aren't practical for everyday use. £750 extra for a car 5 years newer with repair bills at 1/3 the price was a no brainer for me. My mechanic couldn't do a cambelt on the A8 as he didn't have the specailist tools and as he'll probably never do another it wasn't worth buying them. He's just given the A6 a full service and cambelt change for £327 which is probably 1/3 of what it would cost on my A8. Are you sure ebay is the best approach, I know it's cheap to list it but if it sells the final fee adds quite a bit, autotrader is £44 for 3 weeks on the web and 2 weeks in the mag if you do it online, I had 3 calls about mine before I pulled the ad, first guy seemed very keen, I took him for a drive and he was impressed but I never heard from him again 2nd guy bought it despite not even getting an insurance quote still that's his problem now
