Milo
At the moment, Drivethedeal appear to be offering between 9.7 and 9.9% discount on saloons and avants. I tried 3 of each model (all s-lines) and the discount was consistent. If anyone is buying/has bought from a dealer recently is this being matched or even bettered? As DTD are supplying through a franchised dealer (trailered to your door) it should be the case. Anyone?

With my recent order, I asked my nearest 4 dealers to match or get close to D-t-D. Three of them just couldn't do it. The fourth (Huddersfield Audi) got within £600 - which I accepted. I take a certain level of comfort in knowing I'm buying locally. I think most "retail arms" of dealers will have a very hard time matching broker prices. My understanding is the broker taps in to the "commercial arm", who are more interested in volumes rather than markup. And stating the obvious, the commercial arm is normally inaccessible to joe-public. Chris

[/ QUOTE ] In a nutshell that's exactly it, dealers know places like DTD exist and know they're in competition with them but if they help dealers reach target then they don't really mind - after all that's what they're really interested in! UBM
So what do DTD get out of it?
Milo
[ QUOTE ] So what do DTD get out of it? [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] At www.drivethedeal.com we have invested a substantial amount of time and money negotiating the best prices for you. This means that we can help you save hundreds, or even thousands, of pounds by buying online and benefiting from our bulk buying power. The UK main dealers pay us a small commission whenever we place an order on behalf of a customer. In order to continue offering this service, we need to place your order at a UK main dealer. We therefore want to encourage you to buy online, rather than printing off a quote and asking your local dealer to match our price. DeanW
[ QUOTE ] So what do DTD get out of it? [/ QUOTE ] Profit! The dealer will give DTD a few extra % because of the volume they do - sort of like reward points!

BUT Do you think they could get me more than 4%? Er....... no they couldn't . Pi** poor I thought. I can get friends and family up to 30% on 'our' cars BUB
chrisan
Yes - and I've noticed dealers attitude to brokers seems to have changed for the better in the last 12 months. First time I asked, I got the usual sharp intake of breath and silly warnings about importing and buying from the interweb and other rubbish. The place where I finally ordered actually said they would give me the same level of customer care on any after sales issues regardless of where I bought from. I appreciate this has to be seen to be believed, but I very much liked the attitude. Chris
UBM
Had a look at DTD today - not overly impressed TBH for the constructor - would be better with pictures.
