Clearly, I must be just about the only person who didn't get a copy, because there was only about two other cars this morning who also had their lights on despite the downpour

NeilB
You can't expect everyone to goto the huge trouble of moving thier hand an inch, and twisting a stalk so that the sidelights come on... What do you want next blood?

garcon magnifique
And, of course, if they do turn their lights on, it'll be another week or so before they get round to turning them off again...
badgera
Round here the no lights rule only seems to apply to cars with "Colours similar to the prevailling conditions" i.e. Silver or grey cars when it's foggy, dark cars at dusk...
JoeNobody
Just recently, when driving in conditions other than night-time that requires headlights to be on, I've been noticing far too many drivers who think this means full-beam. Usually they are on the other side of the road, dazzling me.
NeilB
And when you flash them, some of them wave to you as if your saying hello to them Also is anyone else noticing a lot of dicks driving around at night with just thier sidelights on and front fogs on. GCab
What really irritates me is the ones who turn their lights on in rain, but put them on half-beam. So, in low-contrast, non-dark but murky situations, they do their best to match the surrounding ambient light. WTF type of middle-aged domestic-minded thinking is this, anyway? I hate people whose primary motive is to "save money/battery/energy" or "do just enough" who always do things by halves - if they;re going to turn the lights on, why not fecking just turn them ON ??!! In fact (and this is dull) the Volvo manual says you should never drive with the side lights on only as it's dangerous. They're really only there for parking. garcon magnifique
I guess they've updated the manual a bit since the 240 then...
NeilB
I was always told when learning to drive that sidelights should be used when in the rain rather then dipped beam.
FiftyPence
is it true that Volvo lights are on 24/7 regardless of whether you want them to be or not. Id put it down to the manufacturers because its dark 7 months of the year in Siberia or wherever volvo come from
