Is it just me or are there a lot more things and people on the road today that seem to want to kill you if your not carfull. For example just this morning on my way to ipswich A140 twice i had lorries just pull out on me as i was almost halfway down the trailer. Now i could see the fekr.gif driving it in their mirrors so they dam well could see me. What is it with the roads now that people and obsticles just want to see you dead.

The only way to drive and keep sane is to automatically assume that everyone anywhere near you is about to do something feckin stupid at any moment.

Then you're ready for it. 169144-ok.gif

...

Or am I just paranoid? UHOH7.GIF

That's actually how I was taught to think while learning to drive.

And when I was doing my Pass Plus he said 'remember when I told you never to trust anyone when you're driving?' and I said 'uh-huh'

Then he says 'well on the motorway you need to think everyone's a moron and be prepared for anything. Especially when you're close to these big fellas' then pointed at a lorry.

They're arses.

They always over take me when I'm going 50 through road works (cos that's the speed limit) and not realise that I'm going to be over taking them again in a couple of minutes at 80 once we're out of the 50 zone. What's the point? What's 2 or 3 miles of 10mph less going to lose them? About 10 or 15 minutes maybe?

You try getting in a truck with a 40FT trailor on the back and you will soon see who the arses are and it isn't the driver of the lorry.

Lorry drivers are highly skilled drivers who IMO are the better drivers on the road as they have the ability to see everything and i mean everything!! smile.gif

Good point, other road users do not give them what they need on the road. The same folk do not give any other road users what is required either.

The problem is, we remember only the highly skilled lorry drivers that drive like complete and utter twatts, risking others needlessly! Cutting us up, tail gating and forcing others to drive outside their ability! Y'know, exactly the same stuff that the rest of us highly skilled drivers do.

The obvious deference being that our vehicles dont get so easily out of control, dont take 2 counties to stop or drive straight through other vehicles in quite the same way in a collision. Oh, thats IMHO tongue.gif

... best thing is when they're almost past you at the end of the roadworks - just flooring it in the RS leaves them way behind! This does seem to upset them, though!

There will always be a few truck drivers who do dangerous things (like texting while they're in charge of 38 tonnes doing 60mph! EEK2.GIF ), but on the whole people who get in trouble with trucks on the road do so because they simply don't appreciate the room a truck needs or the limits of the driver's visibility.

(Oh and the reason they pass you at the roadworks is because they're still sat on their 56mph limiter cos they know the cameras are set higher than that... wink.gif )
