I disagree Activa - get the diesel every time. You will get 50% better mpg and the retained value of the diesel will be much higher when you come to sell it, which is why the diesel is more expensive now.

That and the fact that the 130 diesel is almost as quick as the 150 petrol.

All the hype about buying diesel only if you do higher mileage is only applicable when the car is new, as the manufacturers demand a higher premium. On a second hand car, the servicing costs are about the same.

I have had a 180bhp 1.8T Golf Anniversary and 130Bhp Bora TDi.

Gofl averaged I would guess 29 - 32, Bora averaged 45 so big difference.

All I would say is that I prefer the 130tdi to the 150 tdi, and if I were to buy another MK4 i'd have another anniversary as residuals seem to be holding extremely well.
