Woppum
Before I start hassling my brokers do any of you educated lot know how insurance companies treat the CSL. Is insurance very different to normal M3. And as I will be 22ish when I get do you think I could be uninsurable?
Thorburn
No one with enough money is uninsurable. It's not gonna be cheap though!
Woppum
Well im not willing to pay a fortune, I think I would be Ok with an M3, my question really is do insurers think of the CSL as a track car for the road or just a sportier M3? I could see there being a problem if they do think of it as a track car! I am asking you guys as I don’t want to bring attention to myself just yet. A second opinion would be nice
NewNiceMrMe
I got a quote for a CSL a while back - it was no change to the premium I was paying on the M3 Cab - so that should be decent guidance for you Woppum.
TriGGa
as a general rule most insurance companies automatically treat any "M - Range" BMW as group 20 insurance So id assume a CSL would be classed as group 20 also
Thorburn
Thats because it is group 20, but not all cars within a group are equal.
Woppum
You have to remember a Fezza is group 20! As far as I am aware insurance companies look at the price, performance and what the car is about. Thats why im a tickle worried about the CSL. Still i'm not going to o it just yet... [/ QUOTE ] This is true, my Alpina is gp 20, same as an M3, but the Alpina is slightly more expensive.
rjgreen4
Don't think it will be that bad - just got a quote from direct line for 989 based on living in knutsford, cheshire - 2 years no claims and £48k M3 with a tracker and parked in a garage, I'm 28. Don't think the CSL will be much more, also depends on if you have more no claims than me
stevie_d
I'm 22 and currently looking for an M3, will be getting it next year when I'm 23, 5 years NCB, 16k miles a year, 2nd hand M3 (prob 2-3 years old) etc. Admiral quoted me £2000 with fully guaranteed no claims and no voluntary excess.
