TheEdge
Hi all Ive noticed a small smear on the lip of my bonnet just near the grill section about the size of a small stamp. It look like an effect similar to when you place sellotape on glass then when you remove it after a while it leaves an after mark but it cant seem to come off. I havent actually tried washing the car yet etc but i tried rubbing it off etc just briefly and it wouldnt go!! I know the bonnets get prone to chips etc but this looks a bit different any recommendatoins on a cleaner to remove it or any advice would be appreciated. thanks all VW R32 deep blue 3 door
Paul
sounds like a spattered bug, or rather the acidic remains where it impacted. could wash, and then try something like Auto glym tar remover which is safe on paint, and if that dont shift it try something like scratch X from Maguiars. re waxing area when you done to protect it. P_G
If you can get some try Autoglym Active Insect Remover. I used to use Tar Remover but this stuff is faster and more effective and no so abrasive if you forget to take it off in the allowed time. Since I used a clay bar for the first time yesterday as well use that afterward and then wax. Seems to have done the trick on mine and I've managed to acccumulate half the insect population of the UK on my car this year.
