Tomk
been reading up on them now and got worried, have signed up but have only just realised what bad press they have had recently... plusnet have been really good for service but now capped limits so just hope bulldog are ok ,
akira
plusnet do not have capped limits, they were planning on doing it but then abandoned the idea
Waylander
Plusnet DOES have a fair use policy though and a pipe of doom you get shifted to for a bit for heavy usage IIRC? Mind you i also recall they have unlimited downloads from 1am which is rather cool...
Regulator
All companies will have a AUP ... its standard! ... When they say Unlimited, they don't quite mean it ... I was told by one of my ISP's that AUP really means that u aren't using the connection for a complete month ... so, 4 days = 96hours less than a month is ok. With regards 2 downloads, its dependent on the indivdual ISP ... then again, I suppose the AUP is also dependent on the ISP, so, u could use it as a rule of thumb. ... If in any doubt, go to BT ... I've had excellent service from them. I've got the 2 meg connection and running it on a network throughout the house and i'm more than happy! sidicks
"ChelseaMick" promoted bulldog in response to one of my posts, so we're switching to them for both phone and broadband at the moment - connection scheduled for next week. Previously we were BT, but recently we have had all sorts of hassle and errors made by BT which a) have taken ages (and much chasing on our part) to get resolved and b) a total lack of customer service and understanding. Will let you know how we get on in due course, but 8MB broadband sounds interesting............... Sidicks

skifly
thats really odd tom as i am with plusnet and would be what i would call a heavy P2P and FTP user (as you might know ) and i havent had any problems with plusnet for a couple of years now. My router doesnt seem to have rebooted many times in the last 8/9 months either.

Emule ground to a halt (uploads seemed fine though), getting repeated drop-outs now. I'm thinking of moving too.
Chelsea Mick
[ QUOTE ] We've (work) been with Bulldog for almost two years now and they are crap, [/ QUOTE ] They might be for you as a business, but I have had Bulldog at home for nearly 2 years and have very rarely lost the connection down to ISP issues. Thier support is getting a lot better (allthough not perfect yet) than it used to be.
