Intermittent vibration from the wheels

Hmm, just when I thought it was starting to settle...

Driving home last night my fronts started vibrating severely whilst under medium to heavy braking.

However, this morning things were okay.

I'd have thought that if it was that my front discs were warped (again openfire.gif) then they would shudder and vibrate every time I used them????

Or could this be a fault of the ABS? I did not get any lights come on at all (unless the bulbs have gone as well yelrotflmao.gif)

Nope, Sneakys right your discs have warped or worn down to the min. thickness. Just done mine had the same problem with virations; I've recently been doing a lot of motorway miles around the cotwolds etc and the vibration seems as if its comming from both the steering and the pedal- really annoying at the very least openfire.gif

Seeing as your near the Malverns you may be using your anchors a lot more than expected ECLIPSe.gif

Only 2.5k? Hmmm... are they OE? I found that my pads were disintegrating as there are chips on the inner diameter of the discs. But 2.5k is way too early EEK2.GIF What about the bushes in the suspension/track arm assembly?

Do the old shop window test; drive up to shop window so you can see the wheels then apply the brakes pretty firmly, then kepping a close eye on any lateral movement of the wheel, release the brake instantly. Or... just get someone to look at the wheel when you release the brake pedal smashfreakB.gif169144-ok.gif

I do think mines need changing becuase off driving around in some of gloucestershires more crapier roads in an attempt to get to work on time ECLIPSe.gif But when I did the brake change the other day there seems to at least 10 differnt bushes that could be potentialy worn on each sidesportifs2.gif

Has anyone else replaced any of these bushes?

I'll bet a tenner its one of the ABS sensors. I had the same problem earlier this year and it took Audi ages to locate the problem due to it being intermittent. The problem only appeared after half an hours driving or so and would disappear after the ignition had been turned off then back on again. The ABS and EPS lights would also illuminate but only occasionally.

If a disk(s) is warped the vibration would be there constant.

I'm beginning to think you may be right on this. I got stuck on the M42 last night (only 3 hours mind, could have been worse) and the stop-start was a real pain (especially as my front pad howl like banshees-on-heat with slow braking).

This morning, no trouble at all.

If there was a half-decent independent speciallist near me i'd take it in there for a checkup, otherwise i guess its back to listers....I'm just hoping they wont refuse to investigate due to the brakes being after-market kit...
