I thought you were meant to have (usually) 256k upload, 1/2Mb download etc, and they work independantly. So uploading shouldn't affect downloading? Thorburn Posted November 11, 2005 Report Share Posted November 11, 2005 If you upload at the full capacity of the connection using a protocol that doesn't have flow control such as UDP then you'll kill the download speed, it why if you are using a program such as Bit torrent you have to set the upload speed to slightly less than the speed of your connection.
