dadwhitey
right got a problem with the sat nav+ . Started with going out to the car to start it and battery was flat [had sat for about 8 days without being moved ] ,got audi assit out and got it started no problem and was told something was draining the battery. Booked it into audi and the say the problem was the sat nav and were going to replace when they found out that it was a retro-fit. Had the retrofit done by a local audio shop ive used for years and it all works fine but it wont turn of with the ignition [ its a plug and play wiring harness that i bought with the unit ]so im thinking this might be the problem that it,s not on a switched power supply. Has anyone else had this problem and is it a easy fix i can do myself any thoughts would be welcome thanks paul
craigyb
Is it an rns-d? these need a switched live to turn off. You can get one from the cluster.

Crusader01
I naturally defer to Craig for a definitive answer but I think I used the fuse for the heated washer jets for the switched 12v on my nav. I think it might be no 5 but thats from memory. I have had no battery draining problems with it. Hope that helps. Regards C This thread has some info http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/482995/page/0/fpart/2/vc/1 Ah just found it gizze writes ' If the fuse box is the same as the A4 then fuse number 5 is 12v switched' http://www.tyresmoke.net/ubbthreads/showflat.php/Cat/1,2,12,15,22,25,26,27,3/Number/398670/page/0/fpart/2/vc/
crasher
I had power problems (drained system twice) when I had my Dension MP3A wired into my RNS-E. It turns out that it stayed live and would often turn itself on (during the night) - it too needed a switched live, however in the end I removed it and reconnected the std CD changer. Audi assist chap was helpful in getting the car going again. And I had it in the dealers over a weekend on a charge/drain monitor to see if anything else could be the cause. All the other kit was given the all-clear so I know it must have been the dension unit.

gizze
There is no problem at all attacing the switched to fuse number 5, you take the fuse out and put the wire in the socket, you are not attaching it to the fuse itself.
