Diesel vs Petrol (VW)

I like to know which is best, as i hate most VW petrol Engine's (post 2000), But i love the TDI PD engine and think they are great. But what about you the VW drivers veiw ?

I had the A2 chipped and it just blows away equivalent petrol engines, and gets 45mpg with hard driving

I had to disengage my .:R32 brain for a moment while I filled out the survey. Without a doubt, the VW TDI PD is the best 4 cylinder diesel engine I have driven, and I've lost count of how many we've had.

And VW go and ruin it all by announcing they're scrapping PD's in favour of common rail! Link

PD can't match the third generation Common rails, it doesn't get close. Audi 2.0TDI vs BMW 2.0d... game over, however the new 2.2 Lexus looks like it will finish them both off.

Lexus as bringing out a diesel? Nice.... if they can put it in an estate, then i could get one! (IF i had enough money)
