Gavr. how did you upload the photo? I've managed to downsize mine and put them in the gallery, but it seems that I can't do it from my digi camera onto these pages.

Gav, that looks sweet! Everyone always says the 1'er is an ugly car, but in Le Mans Blue and M-Sport guise, I reckon it looks the business. Far more distinctive than a lot of other hatches and that 265bhp straight six is a peach too 169144-ok.gif

Let it get dirty I say! Shows its being "used" as it was intended. I think Tiff Needell once said that he likes to see a performance car with a bit of muck on it! Glad you're pleased with the car. I'd be interested in your long term opinions once you've had it a while e.g., build quality, mpg, running costs, servicing costs etc....

  • 2 weeks later...

Still having fun, didn't have much of a chance to drive it this week, still got 5o miles before I light the blue touch paper and take it to 7000. I know I'm being pedantic, even though it probably makes no difference running it in, a form of delayed gratification.

Fuel consumption is not so good, I'm getting 24mpg but that is mainly London driving. The throttle response is extraordinary more like an "on-off" switch, first gear is quite tricky in traffic, I think it's the same for the M3.

Talking of which, a number of times I've looked into my rearview to see an M3 planted on my rear bumper desperate to demonstrate superiority...makes me chortle. Same with all Audi A3 and VW high specs.

It is a wild cat trapped in a cage in London and I look forward to another trip to Wales or the South Downs to let it loose.

Have you made any progress re purchase or have you decided to buy a different model?

Well, I used to get around 24mpg from my MINI Cooper S, so 24 mpg isn't that bad when you consider the engine size and power you have at your disposal in the 130i! I'm still after a 130i - but not until End March/early April (as that's when its fiscally viable!). Sytner's in Wycombe said they'd keep me informed, so we'll see what turns up nearer the time!
