Sparky
Talking of whether cables/wiring looms are present for cars without DIS, I was filling up my washer bottle today and realised there is a black cable going into the bottle, by the opening and this feeds back out and disappears somewhere into the car. Is this the sensor? If so, surely the cables are ready in place and just need enabling? It doesn't tell me when my water is low, so why would they put it there? Durrsaku
That would be the wiring of the winscreen water pump, my guess.

Mitchet
I think they don't want you to have it, as they know it's just a case of enabling it

huwrald
I've fitted the DIS myself some time ago on my B7 A4, very straight forward mod, Fit the stalk, enable in VAG COM and ground pin 1 of the instrument cluster loom to cancel the washer bottle warning. I'll be happy to help out anyone who needs help. Its also a very good time to fit cruise but beware that some cars require a new steering column control unit to enable cruise. huwrald
I dont mind fitting it for any one that wants it done, you need to check what steering modual you have fitted first with VAG COM as some cars (Mine for one) needed a new module. Its a PITA when you put the car back to gether to find it wont program, Its also a good time to fit a GPS aerial incase you fit NAV in the future as the clocks are a pain to get out too. Feel free to PM me and i'll give you my number and i will talk it over.

Mitchet
BarryA4: I've got the new stalk controls (with cruise & DIS) which also has them module on also. I have a vag-com cable, so it should just be a case of sorting the screen wash sensor, fitting and enabling it? Aside from finding the time to fit it, I'm also a bit weary of removing the airbag/steering wheel. Is it a difficult job?
chudwill
Which is the pin we need to ground, stalk bought from vagparts, great people, recommended, got the cruise control stalk as well. But which is the pin to stop the bottle washer indication?, please help
Lynas
oooh... this sounds promising.. is this the case on a B6 then? Because if it's a case of changing a stalk and plugging into a computer... I'm in!
Mitchet
This is on the B6 yes. Incidentally, I enabled DIS (though VAG-COM) last Friday, and the only error that appeared was that I hadn't fitted the wiper stalk. I didn't even get the washer bottle warning, so I wonder if the sensor is fitted? I've been out today to get the T55 torx bit today, which you'll need to remove the steering wheel. So assuming everything goes smoothly, it should be done by Thr and we'll have the write up on the audiretrofit website soon after. Incidentally - if you are about to try the retrofit in the next few days, then disconnect the battery before you unplug the airbag. And once you've finished (and reconnected the battery), you'll need to put your key in the ignition and start the engine briefly, to recode (or something) the key... otherwise you can't lock the doors! shark_90
Playing around last week, PeterB and I enabled DIS as we were fecking about with the locking settings in my B6 A4. The washer warning came on, and as I have the standard stalk we couldn't alter the display, but VAG COM didn't give an error so what's to say whether it's wrong? I'd be interested to know, and wondered whether I should order the stalk as well. Let us know your findings M1chet
