I've been thinking about this situation a little more.

What would make someone do this? There are a few examples above I know, but think about it in more detail. McCombie told us in December that he'd ordered a Jaguar. He even gave the delivery date. So, the date arrived and he posted the picture.

That is planned and accurately plotted deception.

If you were trying to win a war, gain advantage in an ugly business to business war, get one over someone who'd done you an injustice in the past etc - well maybe I can understand why someone would go to so much effort.

However, to impress or deceive people on a Car Forum? What benefit could there possibly be? The lying required to fulfil something as complicated as this is mammoth if you go back through the posts - and across 5 or more car forums (and others have expressed their suspicion too).

I'd really like to know why. If McCombie reads this I'd just like to ask him, in a perfectly reasonable tone and manner, just why? It could be a kick or adrenalin rush I don't understand, or perhaps it has indeed all been one very big case of misunderstanding. The evidence to date is compelling though - especially as the picture of that Jag with the plate MC 99 has been cached by Google since July 2005. How on earth could that be explained? Coupled with the car detail via DVLA - it's conclusively right.

So why?

I mean, we're a pleasant bunch on here aren't we? We greet everyone's first post with a warm welcome don't we? We engage in banter, all of it good natured. Almost everyone I know on here sees through tribal loyalties, car preferences, differing lifestyles and varying tastes...and treats everyone else with respect and maturity.

The TSN Community is a close one - the meets are evidence of that alone, not to mention all the favours people do for each other. So, again, just what could be gained by working against the community rather than trying to join it?

We have members without cars, members with cars that can't drive them yet, and god knows what else - but they're all welcomed in with open arms. So no matter what you own or don't own - you're never made to feel any different, are you?

If you're a troll, a deceiver, a bullsh1tter, a time waster or raving mad........please, please, please...find a new home.

Chris,

I totally agree with you.

The story is consistant across so many forums, so it must take planing, and alot of time. So why.

If you put as much time and effort into play in the real world, you could probably afford all those cars anyway.

I never understood why the guy had such a strange collection eg why have 3 - D Segment Saloons.

Ah well, roll on Sunday.

grin.gif Sounds like a nice case of Antisocial Personality Disorder 169144-ok.gif

[ QUOTE ]

Antisocial Personality Disorder results in what is commonly known as a Sociopath. The numbers of persons with this disorder are much higher than generally thought, with nearly 6% of men and over 1% of women having this disorder. The criteria for this disorder require an ongoing disregard for the rights of others, since the age of 15 years. Some examples of this disregard are reckless disregard for the safety of themselves or others, failure to conform to social norms with respect to lawful behaviors, deceitfulness such as repeated lying or deceit for personal profit or pleasure, and lack of remorse for actions that hurt other people in any way.

People with this disorder appear to be charming at times, and make relationships, but to them, these are relationships in name only. They are ended whenever necessary or when it suits them, and the relationships are without depth or meaning, including marriages. They seem to have an innate ability to find the weakness in people, and are ready to use these weaknesses to their own ends through deceit, manipulation, or intimidation, and gain pleasure from doing so.

They appear to be incapable of any true emotions, from love to shame to guilt. They are quick to anger, but just as quick to let it go, without holding grudges. No matter what emotion they state they have, it has no bearing on their future actions or attitudes.

MrMe, you say that he must have 'planned' the whole thing - which I agree it looks that way, but how hard would it have been to have taken a few snaps of other peoples S600s and Phaetons?

Is he just rubbish at the planning stage, or did he want to get found out? confused.gif
