Considering a W12 SWB

Just had a chat with the dealers regarding an A8 W12 SWB, lots of L's around, but not many shorties.

Anyway, he's got me a demonstrator from Audi UK to play with from Friday until Tuesday. I will see what I think of it as I was dissapointed with the A8 4.2 quattro.

You know, I doubt very much that the S8 will be any faster in the real world than the SWB W12 - same 0-62 (5.1 sec), and although the S8 will have a higher top speed (should be over 180 mph), the W12 is still capable of pushing the needle off the speedo at over 170 mph indicated, so neither's a slouch. The W12 is more relaxed than I expect the S8 to be, as it has more torque across the rev range.

Yes, the S8 is cracking value against a new SWB W12 - more toys and lower price, and FSI should give it a kick in the economy stakes if it does a fair amount of crusising. This will be why the SWB W12 is being dropped when the S8 launches, leaving the LWB W12 as the only 6 litre A8.

Yes it's the black one at Lincoln Audi I'm interested in.

S8 would be nice, but I would have to install a lot of Nav systems to reach the price tag and it will be a few years before they drop enough for my wallet.

A8 W12 seems a better option as they will start dropping when the S8 kicks in. But again that may work against me. The Lincoln one seems to be the right price for that car.
