RossG
Is it not just the exhaust system, and hot bits of the engine cooling down. The ticking is the sound of the metal contracting back to its normal state. My exhaust pipes grow in lenght noticably ) when they are hot, so they have to retract as they cool
Mook
Welcome to Tyresmoke Boris The ticking noise if normal - there is a a carbon filter just behind the front offside headlight which ticks away like crazy. This is completely normal. It could also be your exhaust contracting if the car has been driven very hard, but from what you say, I don't think this is the case? BTW, turn off your CAPS LOCK - otherwise it looks like your shouting...
olivia
HI THANKS BUT THE NOSE IS COMING FROM BEHIND THE BOTTOM GRILL BELOW THE NUMBER PLATE BUT NOT FROM THE RADIATOR IT IS COMING FROM THE THE PARTS AT THE BOTTOM FRONT OF THE ENGINE ???? Roy32
Hi boris and welcome, I had this exact same problem with mine and VW told me it was normal, its the recirculation pump for the coolant which runs for a while when you switch your engine off. I left it for a while then took it back and told them the ticking had got worse and they then aggreed to change it and hey presto no ticking. Get in touch with your VW dealer and ask them to change it, should be done under warrent as it is not supposed to tick. Good luck
