Mook
OK, so it's on a Golf R32, but the same ESP system is used on all the VWs, Audis, Seats and Skodas when it's fitted, so I reckon this is probably the best forum for it. This feature is only required for track days - it drove me nuts at Castle Combe on Saturday because I had extra sticky tyres on (standard tyres lose their grip a very small amount to allow you to slide the car just enough around a track). Push the ESP dash button once, and the ESP is disabled, but it's never really disabled, it just cuts in much, much later, leading to frustration and, later in the day, total insanity at not beign able to switch the feckin thing off. So, how do you turn it off completely and utterly - I know you can do it on BMWs by holding the ESP button for 'n' seconds and the new B7 RS4 has this feature as well. Or is it a special hack with a VAG-COM..?
theduisbergkid
Not so much 'disable esp' button - more 'enable fun, I'm in control now thank you' button ...
jimdiesel
Only the latest version 8 (As per the B7) has a fully disable feature as standard.
peterb
I understand that the 'technique' used to disable ESP on the Audi Experience Day RS6s is to pull the fuse out.
Scotty
I found by pressing and holding ESP that after 10 secs or so the ESP light goes out on the dash. It can only be reignited by turning the ignition off and back on again. The only thing is....all it does is turn the bulb out!
BenjaminTDI
[ QUOTE ] Only the latest version 8 (As per the B7) has a fully disable feature as standard. [/ QUOTE ] How do you completely disable it then?
jimdiesel
1 press disables traction control. 3 sec press disables the ESP.
BenjaminTDI
Thanks Jim will bear that in mind Is there another warning lamp that shows when it's fully disabled or a bong from the car?

[/ QUOTE ] I tried it earlier and don't get anything like that But then again I don't have DIS, but I would have thought it would come up regardless.
