Kell
My wife informed me that the oil light came on this morning (I know, I should check it weekly) and we don't have any spare in the house. Can anyone tell me which oils she could buy from a garage with as many possibles as there are in case they don't have a specific one. I meant to order some from Opie Oils (whom I've used in the past and they're great) - they recommended Titan Supersyn Longlife Plus SAE 0w 30 which is a VW506.01 spec oil. Does anyone know of any others that will be easier to get hold of? Thanks in advance. Kell.
Kell
OK - done some research and it seems that the 506.01 spec oil has been replaced by 507.00 spec. So would either of these be OK? Castrol Edge 5w-30 (507.00 spec) Mobil 1 ESP 5w-30 (507.00 spec)

the911sc
Hmmm; dunno; I would go to halfords and buy a big bottle of Castol SLX, then decant it into the little ones... (I thought slx 2 was 0w30/40?)
Kell
Well I've just come off the phone with the dealer and he says it's definitely 0w-30. Says that Edge (what they use) now replaces SLX and that it covers diesel and petrol cars.

Kell
Result - of sorts: My missus took the car in to Aylesbury Audi this morning to get them to have a look at it. Having topped the oil up (it must have needed some as it took 2 litres without going over the full mark) it was still beeping and flashing oil at us. Having looked at the manual, it seems it was worse than we thought in that it's not low oil level, but low oil pressure. Which is a severe DO NOT DRIVE CAR warning in the handbook. Lisa rang Aylesbury last night and they said bring it in tomorrow (this morning) and we'll have a quick look at it for you. Turns out that one of the sensors is faulty and that the car is perfectly safe to drive. Thankfully. It's also the first time that she's ever taken either Audi into Aylesbury and she too was astounded by just how good they are. It's really difficult to put your finger on what it is about them that's better, but general attitude and everything is so much more welcoming. And they didn't charge to look at the car either - though obviously, they will charge when fitting the the new sensor. Once again a top result from Aylesbury. jasshrie
Audi says 0w-30 or 5w-30. Use your own discretion on the brand.
