s4_sat
some scoobies are jap imports restricted to around 112mph.some can push it up to 120mph then the limiter cuts in.could be the reason why boxsters always pull away after 120mph. Woppum
I miss Porscheboxster already. I hate to tell him this, but my golf has beaten a 2.5... yes a golf, i think you better drop that 996 lump in, if you can afford it after the leather upgrade
FiftyPence
A Porsche Boxster is for tight asses who cant afford a 911. Generally driven by hairdressers or women.
Blue
Think the owner of the 996 4S I came across on normal roads isn't gonne be a fan of scoobys anymore and same thing for the 993 GT3 that I passed at the track a few days ago

However, you can't slate it for being a 'bad' car until you've driven one and what's a R32 then ? A AWD 'sports car' for 'tight asses' who can't afford a 911 Carrera 4s ?? Bear in mind I had an R32 for 7 months and loved it before you respond.... £30k is peanuts ? Hmmmnn....still more than an R32 last time I checked........ Woppum
Yes but whats more fun a big turd of an S8 or a boxter S, and i seriously doubt you could stay up it arse
Ian_C
S8 is a very potent machine. Felt 5/6ths of the experience courtesy of Botang and it would squash a stock 2.5 or 2.7. Really need the S version to avoid being hassled by 172s I would have thought. If I were spending that much on a car I wouldn't want to see one on every street corner though. I certainly do not think it is a poor mans Porsche - look how expensive the 2.7 is before any options! Would take a used 996 Carrera without hesitation myself. However, having had the pleasure of driving one back in 2000, an Elise would be my weekend mistress at the moment. Save the Carrera for when I am too old to fold myself into the Lotus!! Grume
I find quite a few standard boxer owners are quite shocked when they look in their mirrors and find my little blue astra is still there. They would lose me if things started getting silly, or at any hint of a bend. It is a vauxhall after all, but just playing they get a bit of a shock, that I can stay with them all the way up to
DanG
I have a 2004 STI with the 2.5 litre engine. It is an absoltely standard out of the box car, with 3,500 miles on the clock now. It developes 300bhp with 300lbs, and thats on 93 octane fuel. The only way even the new boxster would challenge the new Impreza is with top speed.... around twisty roads the STI pulls away even in my hands, and I dont pretend to be the greatest driver in the world and was still running in. Boxster is a nice car for the summer etc but as a drivers car the Impreza is awsome, if you just dump the clutch, you really have to fight it too! D Once you had AWD you'll never go back. DanG
Oh yes its LHD byt the way and it cost me around 14k GBP, so I will definately bring it back with me, if I go back! Boxsters here are very cheap, 1999 for circa 8k GBP with 40k miles. Trade in they are worth less... but i hear if you buy a new one you get a free trip to the Salon to get you started!
