Sorry Snail, everything you have is slow then!!!

The trouble is to get a good site you need to use all these technologies and images and it appears that more and more people use their connections at work to browse, if you look at my site and probably this around 10am is peak viewing time

I guess either tea break or people have got bored working so they start to browse

And more and more people have faster connections, either ISDN or cable

So you need to have all these nice features to impress people

I apologise for all the dial up users

Just pointing it out, so you know, as i tend not to go to sites which take tooo long to download, and that may damage potential sales. Maybe you could consider doing what some sites do, and offer a Text or HTML based version, so us caveman users (who keep begging BT to put our exchange to broadband frown.gif) can get a good experience from your site.

Thanks for the feedback Snail ... always good to gain perspective from those can-on-a-string Internet users. :P

Actually, I do try and keep dial-up users in mind when implementing certain elements, be it graphics (image size) or multimedia. That said, the Flash movie currently on ECC is only 80kb, not much larger than the static jpeg images we were using in that spot before. In fact, because the Flash file caches it's *quicker* for users who hit the homepage more than once, since before we had 13 rotating images that were loaded randomly ... each 30-40kb.

At this point I can't see offering a redundant HTML version, since there's only one Flash element. If the site migrates to 100% Flash-based, then that would totally make sense.
