It doesn't actually solve the problem, because when the add-on is disabled you have to enter in a validation code which is generated from a activeX download.

There is a replacement DLL on the web which you can download which solves the validation problem entirely.

This method does not work on the latest dll.

It does. I used it last night... for evaluation purposes of course wink.gif

Download this .dll right click "save target as", close all explorer windows, then extract to windows/system32 and over write the existing LegitCheckControl.dll. I re-booted my PC but I don't know if you HAVE to.

Then you have the old DLL. Windows update will soon see to that, and you'll no longer be able to disable it from with Internet Options. Microsoft are fully aware of the workaround and the loop-hole will soon disappear.

Sorry mate, I mean that the DLL you had before was the old Windows one. Microsoft are releasing a newer one soon (some PC's already have it) which won't let you disable it.

Windows Update will soon detect you have a different version and replace it with the newer one which they've "fixed".

Oh ok..Gottcha

When you do an custom update, you get the option to choose which update you want to install. Will you not be able to refuse, or uncheck, to install that update?

No doubt someone somewhere will will just create an updated version of the .dll anyway surely that will just overwrite the Microsoft one?
