mccombie_5
Just did a vaulation on a 15 month old Rover 75 Tourer Contamprary SE V6 and its worth... feck all really. She bought it at the beginning of 2005 and is now thinking of moving upmarket with bigger budget, and asked me to find out a bit. Bloody hell even I was shocked and I know Rovers depreciate like Steinway Pianos falling from a tower block. She paid almost £25,000 for it in February 2005, and its now going on autotrader for about £12,000 Over 50% deprciation in just over a year. I nearly choked on my Riveta. garcon magnifique
Not a good time to sell. The last unregistered Rovers and MGs have been going for little more than 50% of list price, so a 12 month old used one is inevitably going to get hammered. Johna1
Its a terrible shame Rover went bust in some ways. The 75 is a classy car and the 2004 facelift improved it alot. the only 75's that dont seem loose too much is the V8 versions. Seen some for £25K (£32K new list price in 2005) with little or no miles. I have driven a neighbors and enjoyed it, lovely V8 Thrum noise
mccombie_5
As I've just realised, I knew it was bad, but I didnt realise it was this bad. The car onlyhas 5700 miles on it too. Sherarely uses it because she lives in Newcastle city.
Milo
[ QUOTE ] Sherarely uses it because he lives in Newcastle city. [/ QUOTE ] Doesn't he play for Newcastle? That will add a couple of thousand onto the value.

M8CKN
My dad bought an MG ZZT in January ("sporty" Rover 75 estate). He does about 50k per year so resale value of any car is mininal, so he thought he'd get a fully spec'd MG as it would be peanuts new. He was right, RRP was £25.5k and he paid £14k!!! mccombie_5
Sounds about right, this one was bough January February 2005, and it's mint, she neever blood uses it, lucky if it's done 100 miles a week, and it's worth £11k, but if new ones are going for almost these prices she might just keep it. simonb
When i looked at a Mitsubishi Colt CZT and Fiat Grande Punto for the mrs back in February, the dealer was formerly a Rover dealer and had taken Mistubishi on as replacement. The salesman seemed keen to stop me from spending upwards of £12k on these 2 cars and instead spend £6995 on a brand new ZR or even a TF for just £9995 brand new, unreg, 06 plate! Shame really as i remember when i first started work back in 2001. Had my first few pay packets and then saw the ZR 1.4 105 and I sooooo wanted one! Seemed so accessible and such a better alternative to the Saxo! It's just a shame it was based on a 6 year old design back in 2001, that hardly changed up until April 2005 when the preverbial hit the fan! v15ben
I wouldn't mind a ZR or ZS. They might be based on ancient designs but they are stunningly cheap now and they won't lose too much more money (they can't really can they!!) A decent car compared to the alternatives at the same price. Never thought I'd say that about a 21st Century Rover
malagus
hmm.. an Early model MG ZR sounds like an option for a first car - shame fiats are worth even less 2nd hand!

simonb
I remember when i first saw the 75 at the motorshow! It looked so similar to an S-Type Jag (another new launch at the time!) back then!! Thought it would be a neck and neck battle between those two! How wrong could i have been!!? Handled really, really well. Until I put it into a tree.
mccombie_5
I don't like the ZR much, but I never really liked the 200 or the 25, the ZS is indeed nice, much an improvement over the Rover 400. The ZT and 75 are still good cars for peanuts IMO.

My auntie and uncle just bought one as a mile-muncher. Details here. Ian
