FuntimeFrankie
Has Quentin Wilson finally lost it? I love the look of the new XK, but surely its not "prettier" (as quoted in the Mirror today by Wilson), than the iconic E type?
NeilB
How the hell can something that looks like a Hyundai, be better looking then the E-Type!?! Silly man.
mccombie_5
It looks more handsome than alot of cars, but certainly not an E-Type. Handsom/Pretty arent compatible.
malagus
hmmm.. if you squint really hard, and you are confusing the e-type with a ssangyong rhodius, then yeah, i'd go for that.
lohengrin
better surfacing on the new car, roadster is more musclely, but original (provided it was reliable) would be the one I'd have
drpellypo
Malagus - hehe. Lohengrin - welcome to TSN! And I reckon QW has had his brain taken over by thousands of tiny elves. That's the only explanation.
Pastit130
Glad I'm not alone in thinking the front looks like a Hyundai! Headlights are awful!
sayerbloke
I'm not a huge fan of the way the XK looks... ...but as I would never put the E Type on a list of "The world's prettiest cars", I may well agree with him. I'm aware that, as a car enthusiast and British, I'm supposed to like the E Type, but I really, really, don't. Sorry.

Just curious
NewNiceMrMe
Wow, I agree. The E-Type would be on my list of pretty cars for sure. The new XK, the more I see of it, just isn't doing it for me. The rear is good - but the front is bloody awful. Way too understated, way too Hyundai Coupe and way too Ford influenced in my opinion. It'll be interesting to see how the XK fares against the 650Ci tonight and I expect Top Gear to give the XK the nod, mainly because neither Clarkson, May or Hammond are BMW fans. That said, I'd still take the 6. The build, the torque and the looks are all to my preference. This is somewhat tainted by my previous Jag ownership of course - and once you've driven a car made out of rice paper with clockwork electricals you tend not to want to go back to one again. sayerbloke
Hmm, I guess I'd then need to define the difference between pretty cars, handsome cars, those with presence, etc The short answer would be that I just don't find the shape of the E Type appealing. The convertible/roadster looks OK but the hardtop just doesn't do it for me Just sticking to around the same timeframe, I'd go with something like a Muira or one of the American offerings [like this C2 'vette]: I think they'd qualify as "pretty" on some level
malagus
just opened a prettyest car thread where you can post on this matter. And i love that 'vette - the only really beautiful USA car IMO.
