As alsways, i am itching to change my car sekret.gif Although i will keep the Audi until at least March next year, i wondered if anyone has any opinions on the new MY06 Forester STi (Import Only)

Importers' Website and Video of Vicky Butler-Henderson Test Driving

OR if anyone can recommend something

a) As Practical

b) Roughly the same Price (£28k spec'd with the 330bhp option and lux pack)

c) As quick

d) Better???? grin.gif

Looking to change next year, so would ideally be after something about 6 months old with a bit of mileage on it for about the £25k mark. With a big load space for the dog..... 169144-ok.gif

Main problem, as with any Subaru import, is that UK Subaru dealers won't touch them. This means you'll have to find an independent specialist (or importer) willing to and capable of properly servicing it.

For similar money, you could have a fully loaded UK model Forester 2.5XTE with a Prodrive performance pack that takes it to 256bhp at 5,600rpm and 300lb/ft at 3,000rpm, with 0-60 in 5.3 secs and 0-100 in 13.9.

It's quick enough (for a bus wink.gif ), and you have the piece of mind of a full Subaru UK warranty and dealer servicing.

Might of known it would be you to answer first!!! grin.gifgrin.gif

What is the difference between the XT and XTE??? Is it power output or just spec? There are a few locally on Autotrader, but only 2 XTE's..... at £24k + £2k for the prodrive kit, it's not far off the STi, but i see what you are saying about the servicing etc. It would have to be a trip to Gloucester each time (not too bad as i have an office in Worcester!).

How about an S6? Are they that cheap yet?

will be too old - i would like to keep for 2-3 years and my motor needs to be under 5 years old for my car allowance to be paid 169144-ok.gif

Or i would be driving an old S8 now - i can tell you.... grin.gif

XT, XTE, XTEn differences are just spec. - mechanically identical.

Ahhh..... so, there are some good deals to be had then 12 months old, £18k-20k.... 169144-ok.gif VERY interesting.......

Our local dealer has one in on demo (or did have recently). Andrew (sales guy) said it's his favourite Subaru at the moment - it's a real hoot to drive, and people just don't expect it to be that quick! grin.gif

Not sure about the warranty issues Garcon. You probably know much more than me but after reading the annals of scoobynet it would appear that 06MY Impreza WRXs from car supermarkets such as Motorpoint - which are parallel imports - will get a 3 year Subaru warranty. The warranty has to be confirmed in writing and thoroughly checked over before purchase but it is valid. Whether UK dealers actually want to service parallel imports regardless of having the warranty is another question entirely!! 169144-ok.gif
