graeme86
Question for those who have lowered their car. Do you have to modify the sensors on the suspension for the automatic levelling function of the Xenon lights to work correctly? i.e. shorten/bend rod etc Or do you just recode the basic setting in VAGCOM so the system knows where the basic setting is?? Mook
If you lower the front and back the same amount, you don't have to adjust them at all. I run 5mm lower at the front (20mm lower than stock) than at the back (15mm lower than stock) and it's not been dark enough to properly see if it makes a significant difference. RedRobin
Doesn't the level automatically adjust whatever you do ? - It does so however you load the car, so why not however you set the suspension ? [Talking about the Mk5].
Mook
The self levellers are on the Mk4 as well, Robin. Yes, they will self adjust, but don't forget that some people lower the front of the car quite a bit more than the rear (10 or 15mm). The self levellers are set up on the premise that the car is at the standard ride height front and rear when it came out of the factory.
graeme86
I am suggesting by my question that the rod length on the sensor may have to be shortened or it would run out of travel as the suspension arm pivots up and down, if you see what I mean. Mook
I see what you mean, but there isn't a problem with the sensor rod lengths, as they have pivots on both ends. Even with a 30mm drop, you wouldn't have a problem
