stevie_d
All five of them actually I'm obviously a mucky lad as my steering wheel is already a bit grubby. It's leather with perforations, so it the best way to clean it just warm water? Now, the other four wheels. It is OK to wax them? I'm sure I read somewhere that people have put normal car wax on their alloys to protect them. Is this OK? Thanks
malagus
ermm.. the steering wheel - leatehr cleaner would probably be best, but it is likely to get into the perforations, whihc will take ages to get out, so start off with a damp cloth and hope that works. the wheels, many peple use wax to protect them, and although there are specialist 'wheel waxes', i think a good carnauba based wax does a decent enough job for the money, as long as you're not using zymol or anything like that! stevie_d
hehe, it's Zymol that I've got I may look for a wheel wax then, as the spray on stuff doesn't really seem to do anything. Oh, whilst chatting about cleaning, what's the best thing to use for exhausts? Will household metal cleaner be OK? Ta
malagus
I use a polish caled peek, that is used by truck drivers to keep theitr massive rims clean, as well as huge vertical Zorsts, and its not 3 bad at all. if you cannot get hold of it, meguiars' all metal polysh always gets great reviews, and many people on here with more exhausts than the fiat swear by it ETA:a couple people have also rated this stuff for wheels : http://www.muc-off.co.uk/carsilica.html

bazza_g
I've always used 'Wheel Wax' - takes a while to put on each wheel and buff off but good results

AntW
[ QUOTE ] my steering wheel is already a bit grubby. It's leather with perforations, so it the best way to clean it just warm water? [/ QUOTE ] I would be careful with straight leather cleaner as it could leave your steering wheel too shiny and therefore slippy, which you don't really want. In the past for cleaning a grubby steering wheel I have found the following works quite well. Get a cloth (terry towels work well) Soak in warm water, then wring out Microwave it for a minute or so to get it very hot (use tongs to take it out, it will be steaming) Wrap around steering wheel and leave a few mins, this will draw out the muck Then wipe around with weak leather cleaner solution. nordberg
Warm water and a drop of white vinegar. Removes even the most stubborn grime from leather and does the leather no harm at all.
A4_Family_Man
I always use Virosol on the alloys, that fruity degreaser - available on the interweb
