rich1068
Would anyone like to post up what they consider to be common faults on current Audi models? A problem they find they share with others. For example my past three cars have all been based on the Golf MKIV chassis (2x Golf MKIVS, 1x Octavia RS) and there were always the same problems cropping up for owners and drivers regardless of 'brand' eg coil packs, flasher relays, clogged throttle bodies, windows dropping, MAF etc etc. Personally I'm interested in the A3 and the 2.0T FSI engine but I imagine it would be helpful for owners of A2, A4 etc Apart from being helpful for forum members it also is a great aid to non members when they're Googling for a solution to a problem that a dealer can only solve by throwing expensive parts at a car. Include good keywords such as Audi, 2.0T, hesitation or whatever. If this has been covered before then please disregard.
peterb
RS6 (and, presumably, the new RS4) - expensive problems with the suspension (DRC).
blacktemplar
Good idea Rich - I know I've spent a lot of time on the forums looking for various problems - would be good to set up a centralised 'register' I have a bog-standard 2005 A6 2.0 TDI SE (34,000mi) and have experienced the following; - vibration at idle (injector seals) - intermittent stalling (dual mass flywheel/software) - occasional cold-start problems (as above) - intermittent parking brake release problem (software) - loud clicking from behind dash (aircon control motors) - airbag software reprogrammed under recall - drivers window auto-down failed (still to be fixed) Whew! Luckily all fixed under warranty, shudder to think how much it would have cost if I'd had to pay the stealers. Good luck with the fault register. Waylander
I had the driver window auto-down failure on my A4 - fixed under warranty and now it has failed again....
Tunbridge
I have a 2002 S3. Bought it with 39k on the clock 5 months ago. I've now done 43k and in that time I've had the following replaced: - 2nd Gear Synchromesh - 10 Disc Changer (kept coming up 'CDC Error' on HU) - Glove Box Lid (Annoying Rattle) - Headlight Switch (Intermittent problem with night time Illumination) Again all covered under extended warranty, other wise it could have been expensive (especially the gear box). From what I've read on here I'm not the only person to have the synchromesh fail on the 6 speed gear box.
Waylander
aah correction - I also have an annoying rattle from the glovebox lid Will ask for both to be rectified at 2nd AVS
AvantSE
Worn gearbox mounting, apparently these can go. Manifests itself as a thump when not changing gear smoothly or if the engine is stalled.

Soundwave
Makes you wonder why anyone would want to buy an Audi after reading this thread, holy mackerel. I have had the following go wrong on my 2001 A6 4.2Q: Blocked drain hole under battery causing passenger footwell to flood. Gearbox oil leak (more severe than the usual weep most owners complain about) Sticking fuel filler cover opener thingy(?) Snapped xenon headlight auto-levelling link-bar causing warning symbol on dash - had to send off to Germany for it and was apparently rare as hens teeth. Constant goading of the driver to go faster, sut sure how to fix that one..
Guest crackdown
Windows refusing to wind up- had this on A6 2.8 Quattro Sport, S6 and RS6. Happened to all four windows, usually when raining and on the motorway and each was 'fixed' three to four times!

master_p35h
Hi rich... i have purchased a 2001 audi A3 TDI 110, and i have a fault with the performance for example.. when i drive sometimes its fine but sometimes as i do around 70 mph the car feels lumpy and i feel the turbo stops working as it would not do anything above 80 mph when this happens... any suggestions what would this be? and i also have a problem with the driver side window that it keeps winding down and wont close unless i pull it up with hand.... i do not know what causes this?
