Oortam
My wife's car has a couple of small (very noticeable!) scratches on the drivers door. I've heard different reports about using chipsaway, it seems it depends on the skill of the local operative. Has anybody used them around Edinburgh or can recommend an alternative? Thanks. TP27
Can anyone give me a suggestion here too. Brother has a supermarket "ding" in the door of his new Passat. Is it a case of calling the Chipsaway helpline for a quote or has anyone got any suggestions of who to use in Central Scotland ?? TP.
cheechy
Got a quote from the chips away dealer a couple of weeks back but didnt bring the card in with me today. I'll look it up tonight and send on PMs. Alternatively go onto the web site and ask for a quote - he should get in touch to be honest. I cant vouch for his work as I've not used him yet - however the missus did mention he seemed quite professional. Therefore he must do a good job! TP27
Brother is going to give Chipsaway a call for a quote. Rule of thumb seems to be £80 ex VAT for each ding. If he does go ahead, I'll post up a mini-review for the Scottish clan on TSN !!
TP27
Just an update. Brother called Chipsaway HQ who put him in touch with the local area tech. Several calls have been made to said tech to arrange for the work to be undertaken but as yet, no replies. Silence......watch this space !! techieboy
I just used Dent Devils for a repair on the missus' car. Little dent on the bonnet and they sorted it in 20 minutes. Looks great. Again, it's a franchise operation so quality is down to the technician. Try their website for a local repairer here

R32North
Righto... they guy I used, who I may add was not a dent specialist but a bodyshop / painter, is...... Iain Campbell & Son Broomknowe, Tulliallan, Alloa, Clackmannanshire FK10 4BH Tel: 01259 730206 (Kincardine) They did a good job and it was well priced (cheap), but can't say if they can do dents at a reasonable cost. Other Dent Specialists you could try are Acci-Dent (www.acci-dent.co.uk) Dent Devils (www.dentdevils.co.uk)
cheechy
Just talked to the guy from Chipsaway. He cant repair my door dink either - although its debateable I suppose whether or not its worth repairing as its hard to notice. Alas he didnt leave enough time to repair the car today but he'll back back next week on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Speedywheels
Cheechy, TP27 - are you referring to the ChipsAway guy at West Pitkerro ? I'm confused by your comments because he did an excellent job of removing a dent on the rear 3/4 panel on my M3, so he definitely used to do this type of repair. cheechy
Nope - this one is based in West Lothian. I just suspect this one isnt too happy about doing panel repairs really. If you've got a number for the guy in Dundee any chance you can PM me with his number? Cheers!
CraigR
Question along the same lines, am looking to get an anthracite alloy repaired around the Falkirk/Stirling area, i remember TP27 getting his wheels done but that was up in Dundee, anyone know of anyone closer? cheechy
Update from me! Scott from chipsaway was working on my car today from around 10.30am this morning until 7pm tonight! He's basically redone the front bumper and wings although he couldnt do the tip of the bonnet as the area is too big to tackle. My first impressions are pretty good. I've not really been able to see it in the daylight yet (it however does look good under artificial light in garage) but what did strike me was the care and thoroughness of the work he undertook. This wasn't a five minute job and indeed he commented on the fact that this was probably one of the most fiddly jobs he's undertaken..... I didnt take any 'work in progress' pictures as I didnt really want to look a complete tit. It was bad enough that the guy was working in a full car park of in the region of 300 cars! I also suspect that after giving out 12-16 business cards he'll be getting more business
