Road rage at its worst...

I guess so, but they've still only got your word for it.

For example, how many people are good at judging speeds? Rumble down the high street in a low gear in a noisy Lamborghini and there's bound to be one old biddy convinced you're doing 60mph. Are the police going to act on that if she phones up to complain?

Indeed there was a thread recently about how some motorists go into fits of rage, flashing their lights and honking their horns, if you dare to overtake them. In their eyes clearly you are acting dangerously (you're not, but it's their interpretation), if they grab their mobile and call 999 with your number plate can you expect a visit from an officer?

What if you just didn't like someone, not hard to ring up and fabricate a complaint is it? They would still get a visit and it'd be their word against yours.

I just struggle to see the police acting on a single phone call complaining about dangerous driving, they'd be on a complete hiding to nothing 90% of the time because they didn't see it, they're acting on the word of an outraged member of the public (who may or may not be justifiably outraged), and they have no evidence.

I just can't see them wasting their time every time they get a call complaining of bad driving.

Possibly different if they got multiple calls of someone driving at lunatic speed or style up a motorway of course because clearly something is going on and plus they'd have collaborating witnesses, but not a single "I've seen a bloke driving badly, go and tell him off" call. crazy.gif

So I guyess they should all give up and go home then? Maybe get jobs as steet cleaners or is that also a thankless task? I mean after all, people will still mess up the street hey.

Other than about boats I don't think I've heard Ari saying anything positive for yonks.

There is, actually, a good case of dangerous driving here, had it been reported by the origingal poster. (Certainly not having a go, btw mate, as not everyone wants to get involved, and why should they ?)

For a start, both vehicles will probably have sustained some damage from the "ramming", and, as such, both drivers will then have to justify why they didn`t stop and exchange details after being involved in an accident.

Coupled with a witness statement from our original poster, who has no axe to grind with either party, the matter would definitely warrant Police attention, and more than just a "talking-to". Both parties would be interviewed at a Police Station at some point, and under caution at that.

Hey, I'm not knocking getting involved at all. I'm just not too sure what the police would do about it in reality.

In fact I once followed a guy who was clearly pissed out of his head and all over the road and called the police. It took four phone calls over 1/2 hour before they finally intercepted, and what they did was follow the guy for a mile to witness it for themselves before moving in. Interestingly, when they did light up the "blues and twos" the guy did a runner!! They evetually boxed him off with two other cars (was on a dual carriageway). They called me back later to thank me, it turns out the guy was already banned, uninsured (obviously) and several times over the limit.

So yes, totally I would get involved, but as I say, purely calling up and saying "oh I saw this bloke driving really dangerously", I just can't see what they could do with that info. As I say, if they go and see him he's just going to deny it. crazy.gif
