NewNiceMrMe
Simple question. Have you driven your own car overseas? Not a rental car either!

NewNiceMrMe
I've driven abroad, but never in my own car. Not sure how I'd feel about it, or whether I fancy a mega-miles road trip either. I'd be on my own, I know that much. MrsMe would never want to go on a Euro-drive. neilp
Took the TT to southern Italy once, all was well until I took the wrong turn on the Milan ring road and ended up in the city centre during rush hour: two lanes, four cars across, not much fun ! bazza_g
Driving your own car abroad is much more fun that a rental - besides, in a hire car on the continent I keep wacking my left hand against the door

Cagey
I love driving abroad - have done several 'jaunts' in previous cars, taking in France, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Italy. Only one bad experience, which was when we stayed in Aix-les-Bains on the edge of the French Alps, and both my gf and I got a nasty dose of campylobacter the day before we were coming home. It was an interesting 6 hours drive back to Calais. On a side note, just got back last Friday from a 48hr trip to my German head office in the work car, and can confirm that a 1.6 TDCi C-Max can hit a GPS recorded 127mph (down a very big German hill, with 7 crates of Bitburger in the boot). I really must get the Golf onto the Autobahn...
Rustynuts
3 times to Denmark, once to France. Will never ever go on a plane again, always take the ferry and drive. Far more civilised, and much cheaper.
sidicks
As much as I'd like to believe that Cornwall is a separate country, I doubt that counts, does it? I did take the M3 to France last year to pick up some wine - not sure the Porsche has the boot capacity to make such a trip worthwhile! sidicks

RossG
I took the Fabia to Le Mans - Bazza is right - having your own car, on holiday, overseas is brilliant! As you drive off the ferry - it's just such a feeling of liberation Currently trying to find a hotel in / around Paris - that isn't expensive and has adequate secure parking - any suggestions anyone? scooby_simon
Did a "tour" of the EU after I finished my degree in a VX Cav. SRI - loads of fun. Few years later did a rapid trip to Chamonix (via St. Bernard pass ) in my Vx Astra GTE 16v (I was young) and had a fantastic time. Car got stolen a little while later.
