I'm looking to lower my MkIV golf TDI as i just put some r32 style alloys on and while i've been looking about i've seen that there are Lowering Kits with shockers and Coilovers (now for the stupid bit) what are coilovers? and would i benefit much from replacing them etc? any light you can shine on this form me would be apprechiated. Mook Posted August 1, 2006 Report Share Posted August 1, 2006 Coilovers are springs. Normally, you have shock absorbers and springs as separate units. But if you go for the KW suspension kits, the front strut, springs and shock absorbers come as one unit. HTH Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
benjie Posted August 1, 2006 Report Share Posted August 1, 2006 If I were you mate, I would spend the extra and get coilovers - the ride's a lot bumpier that standard TDi suspension (depending on your tdi's spec) but i have them and my car corners like its on rails. I really have tried to push them to the limit, but the back end just won't kick out and the front's really stable too. I have really wide tyres on which helps!
