Decked
Mk MkIV is in for a service. They have told me the rear wiper is leaking.... I know the motor was working last night although I didn't test the water jet. And they have quoted £120 to fix it??? Any idea if I'll need this to be fixed? or is it just a case of reconnecting a pipe Thanks
Oatz
Its a common problem and can easily be fixed as a DIY do a search on either here or UKMKIV and save yourself £
Decked
Me being the idiot I am.... I've told them to replace it already.... I thought if they call it broken it must be broken, if it's a case of reconnecting a pipe they'd just reconnect it...
Mook
Check whether they've replaced the pipe. It's about an hour's labour to (very carefully) remove the inner lining of the boot, fix the pipe (and test it!) and then replace the lining. 1monty
Known VW fault for years, on mk4 golfs & on polos! Warranty still valid? You would have thought they could have cured these common faults by now!
Decked
My warranty is still valid but they have told me it's not covered by warranty.... Should it be?
Mook
Depends what's broken and whether they can prove it's a wear and tear item. The problem may revolve around your already having confirmed to them that they should fix it at the quoted £120. Call them up now and try to resolve it before they start the work. Decked
I've spoken to VW UK and they are going to sort everything out. They seem to believe it should be covered but.... who knows.... Anyway, cheers for the advice!!
jimmyp
Talking of rear wipers, if you fancy upgrading to the avant rear wiper just bring your car round to Dan and Jim's workshops where we can modify or fix anything with jimmy's pliers

Decked
Well, the car's been done and the rear washer/motor was covered under waranty.... Also needing new engine fans? but this is also warranty work so it'll be going in again!!! Cheers once again
Mook
The fans are another common fault on them, but warranty covers the replacement - as long as it's still in warranty, which mine isn't any more
Decked
[ QUOTE ] which mine isn't any more [/ QUOTE ] O well..... S3!!!!
Mook
I don't think that any warranty would cover my car, even if it was still in warranty, if you see what I mean. "Ah, yes sir, what exactly is this huge tube in the engine - not sure that was standard on the R32. Oh, and about the suspension..."
