If its just a relaxing holiday, then all of the above is fine but never rule out the south of france / provence / Nice area as their weather in October is very agreeable due to the micro-climate. ok, not guaranteed (nor is spain or cyprus to an extent), but v nice...... also lots to see if you are into that! Beach, castle, glass bottomed boat trips, amphitheatre, mosaics, 'tombs of the kings', market, shops, amusements, Pizza Hut (if you must), jeep safari trips, day in the mountains.... we always stay in the mountains well away from it all, but with kids I'd say Paphos is probably a good bet.
